Bruce Nuclear turbine, up close and personal
Robert Ord (white shirt) of Siemens Canada Ltd., explains the functionality of a low pressure turbine undergoing maintenance and inspection in the turbine hall of the Bruce 'A' Nuclear power plant. Steam from the reactor enters the turbine spindle in the middle and exits at both ends. The turbines are tapered larger at the ends to offset the loss of energy as the steam cools.
